Design Assistance
At Goulong we pride ourselves on customer support and will work with you during the design stage to make sure products are prepared for the injection moulding process in order to optimize production and component quality.
We will help you with the design process in implementing ribs and bosses to add strength to this wall die cast components. We will guide you through the design where slider mechanisms will be used. Additionally, help add the correct draft angles that support cost effective productions. We actively participate and support our customers in the creation of the design for manufacturing.
Export Tooling
Goulong offers full production injection moulds that will be exported for you to run in your own facilities or at a manufacturing facility that you designate. A mould for plastic will be designed and built according to the Western standard. It will be optimized for production on your injection moulding machine with details such as cooling line connections already prepared for your existing setup. Typical steel types for these moulds are 718/718H, S136/S136H, NK80 or a customer-required steel type.
Different customers have different tooling requirements, so we can build to your plastic mould injection system specifications, including the steel, hot runner system, processes, surface polish or texture of the injection mould plastic. We can also take your functional requirements for the moulds and injection moulding and match the production specifications and mould designs. Pilot and short production runs are available upon mould completion, such as for bridging a production tooling gap.
Injection moulds are a large investment, so it’s important to choose a mould maker that produces high-quality moulds. You want to make sure that your injection mould is made to specifications, as being even a little bit off can cause problems like flash (material that seeps out where the two halves of the mould comes together) during the moulding process. This will cause your finished parts to be lower quality and might require extra time to clean up the parts. You also have to consider the quality of materials when purchasing a mould. While aluminum moulds are perfectly acceptable for certain types of moulding projects, we use only steel moulds because of the advantages of steel over aluminum listed here.
The amount of stress that an injection mould goes through during the injection moulding process is intense. Moulds can begin to wear over time and repeated cycles. There are many factors that can increase the life of your injection mould, such as using a higher-grade, more durable steel. Also, injection moulds are designed for specific pressures and temperatures. Operating the injection mould out of these ranges can shorten its life. At Goulong, we provide a lifetime warranty on our production moulds. As long as you continue to have us mould your parts for you, we will repair, refurbish or even replace the mould if needed, at our cost.
In consideration of more complex injection moulds, it is important that not only are they built to specification, but also that they are designed properly. With so many injection moulders in the world, there are varying degrees of design competence. It takes a company with years of experience and knowledge to make sure the injection mould will work properly. For example, family moulds (moulds that create multiple parts in one shot) needs to be properly balanced. If a family mould isn’t made properly, you can get some parts in the mould that are short shot (not completed) or have flash. Flash can be especially detrimental as it may require extra manufacturing time to trim the part.

Double Shot Moulds
Double Injection, sometimes known as 2 material 2 shot moulding or 2K moulding, is an innovative manufacturing process used to produce complicated moulded parts from two different materials. Through a highly specialised and automated process we carefully control the injection of multiple materials, including two different kinds of resin, into a single, multi-chambered mould.
Double Injection in performed on one machine that is programmed to perform two injections in one cycle. In the first cycle, a nozzle injects plastic into a mould. The mould is then automatically rotated and a different type of plastic is injected into the mould from a second nozzle.
Double Injection Moulding optimizes co-polymerization of hard and soft materials to create powerful molecular bond. The result is a single part with production and feature advantages. It can be used for a variety of product designs across all industries. It also allows for moulding using clear plastics, colored graphics and stylish finishes which improves your product functionality and marketplace value.
We work closely with our customers to simplify the manufacturing process, eliminate secondary operations and costs, and improve the integrity of the product.
We now offer two-shot moulds and parts in our ISO Class 8 Certified Cleanroom. Contact Us today to find out more!
Benefits of two-shot moolding:
- New design possibilities.
- Eliminates secondary operations.
- Improved product integrity.
- Saving in production, handling and assembling.
- Enhanced tactile, ergonomic and cosmetic aspects.
- Multi-color, multi-material and multi-component.
- In-Mould Assembly.
- Lower unit cost in volumes compared to low volume overmoulding
Plastic Parts
Plastic injection moulding is a manufacturing process for producing large quantities of plastic parts. We have proudly produced plastic injection parts for companies in the United States, Europe, Australia, Asia and South America. We’ve done custom plastic injection moolding projects for various industries including medical, automotive, sports, hunting/camping, electronics, food/beverage, containers, packaging and more.
Goulong specialises in making plastic injection moulds and production in quantities from 1,000 to millions. Our services covers post-processing, product assembly and packaging.
We offer multiple options for types of injection moulds based on their expected production cycles and the warranty they carry. There are various options for our “in-house” injection plastic moulds – those which you own but we run your parts in our factory and which we call production injection mould– and for our “export” moulds – those which we manufacture and ship to you to run your parts in your facility or a facility of your choosing.
We use steel to make a plastics mould as opposed to aluminum for several reasons, including durability and the ability to injection plastic mould complex parts. There are also various types of steel used for a mould for plastic. While P-20 is considered the workhorse of the industry, we will also use other steel types depending on the situation and requirements.
Production injection moulds means the moulds will stay at Goulong for mass production. The moulds will be designedand made based on the clients requirement and high quality parts will be delivered to our client. The moulds are built to withstand higher volumes of plastic injection moulding cycles. They are made with P20 steel or NK80 stainless steel, and typically last over 100,000 cycles.
Moreover, we provide a lifetime warranty on production moulds. As long as we continue to make your parts in our facility, we will maintain and repair the tool as needed at our cost.
Making design changes on production moulds is possible. A Goulong engineer will coordinate with you on CAD file changes and rework the mould accordingly. You will receive revised samples for your approval prior to production.
